A press-on nail price is not comparable until you know who is speaking. A factory sells what that plant can run. A trading company resells across plants and may or may not name them. A coordinator matches more than one specialist manufacturer to a brief and stays on samples, packaging and follow-up. TRESTRONG is the third. I am not a factory and I am not an unnamed trader.
Questions that expose the role
Ask which process the quote is for, whether the invoice legal name matches the sample-card name, who writes the revision list after sample one, and who owns the conversation if bulk misses the sample.
What I will say out loud
If a brief belongs in one plant, I will say so. Coordination is not a tax you pay to avoid a factory. It is the comparison step before you treat a plant as the supplier.
Quick comparison
| Decision | Factory | Trading company | Coordinator (TRESTRONG) |
|---|---|---|---|
| What they sell | Output of one plant or group | A mixed book of plants | A matched route against your brief |
| Risk if unnamed | The plant may still fit | High if every process is claimed | Identity is kept visible; you still own compliance |
| Handmade + machine-made | Rarely both at the same level | Often claimed, not always true | Split across specialist plants on purpose |
| Week-six contact | Whoever is on shift | Whoever holds the chat | The same coordinator thread |
| Best first use | You already know the process | You want breadth and accept markup | You need comparison before you lock a plant |
Frequently asked questions
Is a coordinator just a trader with better copy?
A trader takes the offer book. A coordinator keeps the brief, sample trail and packaging specification on one thread across more than one specialist plant. If I cannot explain the process split, I should not be on the job.
Can I skip this and email factories from a directory?
Yes. Use the supplier-vetting sequence and compare quotes on the same brief. The sequence does not require me.
