Materials and finish — spec words, not a lab report

Buyers say ABS, gel, soft gel, acrylic look, handmade gel art, gloss, matte, cat-eye. Those words are useful only when they describe the sample you will approve. This page is how to write that into a brief. It is not a chemical inventory, not a HEMA treatise, and not medical or allergy advice.

Name the visible object

Name the base look, surface finish, art method and the wear story your brand sells. A hard press-on, a softer gel-look plate, a flat printed finish and hand-painted 3D art are different sample questions.

What I will not put on this site

No ingredient guarantees, no HEMA-free blanket claim, no hypoallergenic, medical-grade or safe-for-children language. If your brand already prints a specific warning or formula note, send that text and it becomes part of the packaging brief.

How this changes the route

Hand-painted gel art and a flat printed machine plate are different plants. Use the handmade versus machine-made and factory-versus-trader pages to keep that distinction visible.

Frequently asked questions

Can you confirm a set is HEMA-free?

Not from this page. If a brand requires a written statement, that is a document request to the manufacturer on a named SKU after the sample exists.

Is soft gel press-on one standard?

No. It is a shopper phrase. Put a reference photo and a wear expectation in the brief so two quotes mean the same thing.
